The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that an additional declaration form, introduced during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, is not part of the statutory Form 6. This clarification comes after the Supreme Court agreed to examine allegations that the ECI had illegally amended Form 6. Petitioners claimed the ECI unilaterally altered the form, which is the job of the Centre. The ECI stated the declaration is a separate document approved by the commission for the SIR exercise, aimed at re-enlisting voters left out during the revision process.
