Tamil Nadu Cooperative Federation Cancels Onion Orders Due To Poor Quality
The Hindu · india
The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Consumer Federation (TNCCF) has clarified that 400 tonnes of spoiled onions found at a railway goods shed did not belong to them, but to NAFED. TNCCF had cancelled its own order for 400 tonnes of onions on October 31, 2026, citing poor quality and failure to meet size criteria. Officials found approximately 25% of the onions were rotten, sprouted, or fungus-affected, with 50% not meeting the required size standards. This action was taken as a price control measure, with over 2,300 tonnes procured earlier.
