PETA Urges Crystal Palace to Retire Live Eagle Mascot

Sportstar · sports

Animal rights group PETA has formally requested Crystal Palace Football Club to retire its live bald eagle mascot, Phoenix. PETA argues that football stadiums are unsuitable environments for birds, potentially causing them distress and posing risks to both the animals and spectators. The organization cited past incidents, including an attempt to punch a previous mascot, Kayla, at a 2015 match. PETA believes using eagles as entertainment props denies them natural behaviour and is contrary to their symbolism of freedom.
