Mumbai and the Konkan region are experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures reaching up to 38.2 degrees Celsius. IMD has issued an alert, defining a heatwave for coastal areas as temperatures hitting 37 degrees Celsius with a deviation of 4.5 degrees or more from normal. IMD Director Bikram Singh stated that this condition has persisted for three days, with the deviation currently around 4.6 to 4.8 degrees. Lower than usual rainfall in September and October, coupled with prevailing easterly and southeasterly winds, are contributing factors.
