APCC Chief Sharmila Placed Under House Arrest During Protest

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila was placed under house arrest in Gannavaram on Saturday. Police prevented her from joining the ‘Chalo Lok Bhavan’ protest in Vijayawada, which demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. Sharmila accused the BJP-led NDA government of undermining democracy by allegedly deleting voters’ names during electoral roll revision. She urged Delhi residents to file Form 7 to remove the CEC’s vote, making him understand voter distress.

आंध्र प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी (APCC) की अध्यक्ष वाई.एस. शर्मिला को शनिवार को गन्नवरम में घर में नजरबंद कर दिया गया। पुलिस ने उन्हें विजयवाड़ा में ‘चलो लोक भवन’ विरोध प्रदर्शन में शामिल होने से रोका, जिसमें मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त के इस्तीफे की मांग की गई थी। शर्मिला ने भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाली एनडीए सरकार पर चुनावी सूची संशोधन के दौरान कथित तौर पर मतदाताओं के नाम हटाने के द्वारा लोकतंत्र को कमजोर करने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने दिल्ली के निवासियों से सीईसी का वोट हटाने के लिए फॉर्म 7 भरने का आग्रह किया, ताकि उन्हें मतदाताओं की परेशानी का अहसास हो।
