Rajasthan Ranks Second in Custodial Deaths: Ashok Gehlot

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has stated that the state ranked second nationally in custodial deaths during the last fiscal year. Citing National Human Rights Commission data, he claimed these deaths doubled from nine in 2024-25 to 18 in 2025-26. Gehlot also highlighted the case of a 16-year-old boy who allegedly died after torture in custody, questioning the circumstances and demanding a fair investigation. He called for action against responsible police personnel if found guilty.

राजस्थान के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने कहा है कि पिछले वित्तीय वर्ष में राज्य हिरासत में होने वाली मौतों के मामले में राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर दूसरे स्थान पर रहा। उन्होंने National Human Rights Commission के आंकड़ों का हवाला देते हुए दावा किया कि 2024-25 में नौ से बढ़कर 2025-26 में ये मौतें दोगुनी होकर 18 हो गईं। गहलोत ने 16 साल के एक लड़के के मामले को भी उजागर किया, जिसकी हिरासत में कथित तौर पर यातना के बाद मौत हो गई थी, और उन्होंने परिस्थितियों पर सवाल उठाते हुए निष्पक्ष जांच की मांग की। उन्होंने दोषी पाए जाने पर जिम्मेदार पुलिसकर्मियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की।
