The Praja Arogya Vedika (PAV) has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to mandate itemised billing for medicines and medical devices in all hospitals. This move aims to improve transparency and protect patients from soaring healthcare expenditures. PAV has proposed a 10-point charter demanding detailed breakdowns of product names, quantities, prices, and actual patient charges. The organisation also called for robust monitoring and grievance redressal mechanisms to investigate excessive markups and ensure compliance with regulations. The initiative seeks to alleviate the financial burden on families, especially those undergoing prolonged treatments.
