Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that an atmosphere of distrust exists between Iran and the U.S. He indicated willingness to abide by a commitment to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. accepts Iran's proposal. Iran's foreign minister offered a plan to reopen the strait and restart talks with the U.S. as a step toward a nuclear deal. The U.S. has not yet responded to this proposal, which was announced during the UN General Assembly. Pezeshkian noted that daily sanctions and threats from the U.S. make trust difficult.
