Fraudsters are exploiting the names and photographs of public figures, using AI-generated or manipulated videos to promote fake government welfare schemes and bogus cashback offers. Victims are often asked to pay registration or processing fees via international numbers or authorize UPI payments. Police urge citizens to verify schemes through official government websites and never disclose UPI PINs or personal banking details to unknown callers.
