India's residential real estate market is experiencing a slowdown, with new property launches consistently exceeding sales for the 16th consecutive quarter. From January to September 2026, 258,238 residential units were sold across eight major cities, remaining largely stable year-on-year. However, 279,899 new homes were launched, marking a 4% increase. This imbalance has led to an increase in the average time taken to sell a property, now at 6.1 quarters. The Delhi-NCR region is particularly affected, with sales dropping 11% and a significant decline in the premium housing segment.
