An 82-foot-long blue whale sculpture, "Ethyl the Whale," crafted from approximately 5,000 pounds of single-use plastic waste, is drawing global attention. Created by California artists Joel Dean Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova in 2018, the artwork highlights the critical issue of ocean pollution and demonstrates how waste can be transformed into public art. Originally commissioned by the Monterey Bay Aquarium to illustrate marine pollution, the sculpture was later moved to Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico.
