India's Bullet Train Tracks to Feature Ballastless Design
Aaj Tak · automobile
India's first bullet train, set to run at 250 km/h, will utilize a unique ballastless track system, a first for the country. Unlike traditional tracks with stones, this advanced design employs a strong concrete slab base. This system, known as J-slab track and based on Japan's Shinkansen technology, will be implemented on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. The track construction involves multiple layers, including a concrete base, a CAM mixture, pre-fabricated concrete slabs, and specialized fasteners to secure the rails.
