Scientists and Colossal Biosciences are working to resurrect woolly mammoths using genetic engineering and AI. They aim to create a mammoth-like animal by modifying Asian elephants with mammoth genes. Initially targeting 2028, the company now expects the early 2030s due to the complexity of recreating mammoth biology. This endeavor involves extensive gene editing, aiming to incorporate traits like thick hair and cold resistance.
