New Reserve Bank of India regulations for international trade payments, effective October 1, have created a grey area for using international credit cards for services like Claude Pro or Bandcamp. While the rules aim to capture data on dollar outflows, they lack clarity on reporting mechanisms for personal service imports made via card payments. This ambiguity affects individuals and businesses using corporate cards for overseas subscriptions and downloads. Banks are currently unable to provide definitive answers on how these transactions will be reported.
