Madras HC: Non-Hindus with Religious Markers Barred From Agamic Temples
Mint · india
The Madras High Court has ruled that non-Hindus who refuse to show reverence or follow traditional customs cannot enter Agamic temples in Tamil Nadu. The court stated that allowing individuals with religious markers or those unwilling to affirm their respect for the deity compromises the sanctity of these shrines. This ruling specifically applies to Agamic temples, which are built and maintained according to ancient shastras. The bench emphasized that such customs should not yield to political expediency or performative displays of faith for vote value.
