Omron Healthcare has officially opened its first manufacturing facility in India, located in Gummidipoondi near Chennai. The new plant, built within three years of signing an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government, is designed to produce 300,000 blood pressure monitors annually, with plans to increase this to 30 lakh units within two years. The company aims to make Chennai a hub for both the Indian market and exports to Europe. This expansion addresses the rising prevalence of hypertension in India and the limited access to home monitoring devices.
