A Nagpur-based private firm lost ₹1.30 crore to a cyber fraudster who impersonated the company owner. The accused sent a fake payment instruction via WhatsApp to the firm's accountant, Amit Ghate, directing him to transfer the large sum. Believing the message was genuine, Ghate processed an RTGS transaction to a specified bank account. The fraud was discovered when the actual owner learned about the unauthorised transfer. Police have registered a case and are investigating the digital trail and beneficiary account to identify the culprit and recover the funds.
