Salvage operations have commenced on a tanker leaking oil off the coast of Oman, according to a risk assessment firm. Environmental NGO Greenpeace has issued a warning that the oil spill has significantly expanded. The spill now covers an area of 1,300 square kilometres, posing a severe threat to marine ecosystems.
