Kazakhstan and Russia's Gazprom have signed an amendment to their gas supply contract. Deputy Energy Minister Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbayev stated that discussions for a long-term agreement are expected by year-end. Kazakhstan plans to purchase approximately 11 billion cubic meters of gas from Gazprom in 2026, an increase from 4 billion cubic meters last year. Discussions for 2027 involve around 9 billion cubic meters. This move solidifies Russia's role as Kazakhstan's strategic partner in gas matters.
