A petition challenges the system, implemented, arguing it creates difficulties for consumers, especially the differently-abled, who may not have Aadhaar. The court noted that not everyone possesses Aadhaar but still uses LPG. The petitioners argue that alternative options like smaller cylinders at market rates are insufficient. The court will hear the matter again.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने एलपीजी सिलेंडर बुकिंग के लिए अनिवार्य आधार-आधारित बायोमेट्रिक सत्यापन के संबंध में केंद्र सरकार और तेल कंपनियों से जवाब मांगा है। एक याचिका में इस प्रणाली को चुनौती दी गई है, जिसे लागू किया गया है, यह तर्क देते हुए कि यह उपभोक्ताओं, विशेष रूप से दिव्यांगों के लिए कठिनाइयाँ पैदा करती है, जिनके पास आधार नहीं हो सकता है। अदालत ने नोट किया कि हर किसी के पास आधार नहीं है, फिर भी वे एलपीजी का उपयोग करते हैं। याचिकाकर्ताओं का तर्क है कि बाजार दरों पर छोटे सिलेंडरों जैसे वैकल्पिक विकल्प अपर्याप्त हैं। अदालत मामले की फिर से सुनवाई करेगी।
