He asserted his Indian identity, stating he is and will always remain an Indian citizen. Rathee accused some media outlets of spreading misinformation to justify his alleged detention. He claimed he was taken from his home by plainclothes individuals and held for nearly 23 hours without access to his lawyer or phone, sustaining injuries during the process.

यूट्यूबर ध्रुव राठी ने अपनी नागरिकता की अफवाहों को खारिज करने के लिए एक वीडियो में अपना भारतीय पासपोर्ट सार्वजनिक रूप से दिखाया है। उन्होंने अपनी भारतीय पहचान पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि वह भारतीय नागरिक हैं और हमेशा रहेंगे। राठी ने आरोप लगाया कि कुछ मीडिया आउटलेट्स उनकी कथित हिरासत को सही ठहराने के लिए गलत सूचना फैला रहे हैं। उन्होंने दावा किया कि उन्हें सादे कपड़ों वाले व्यक्तियों द्वारा उनके घर से ले जाया गया था और लगभग 23 घंटे तक उनके वकील या फोन तक पहुंच के बिना हिरासत में रखा गया था, इस प्रक्रिया में उन्हें चोटें आईं।
