A new study explored using chemical compounds in tiger and leopard urine and scat to gather information about these big cats without direct capture. Researchers found that chemical profiles could distinguish between tigers and leopards with 79% accuracy using urine and 75% using scat. While classifying older male animals proved more challenging, this non-invasive method holds potential for improved wildlife monitoring and could be extended to other species in the future.
