Eight Missing in Kedartal After Avalanche; Search Hampered by Heavy Snowfall

Search operations for seven trekkers and one guide missing in Uttarakhand's Kedartal region are ongoing but have yielded no trace of the individuals. Two aerial reconnaissance sorties by helicopter failed to locate any signs of the group or their tents. Heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions are significantly hampering the State Disaster Response Force's efforts. An additional SDRF mountaineering team has been deployed to aid the search. The group departed from Gangotri on October 27, and an avalanche occurred on October 29, preventing their return.
