Steve Jobs' sprawling 17,250-square-foot Jackling House in Woodside, California, has been demolished following a protracted legal battle. Jobs had wished to replace the historic mansion with a smaller, modern home, but preservationists fought to save the 1926 structure. Despite its architectural significance and 30 rooms, including 14 bedrooms, the home was torn down in 2011 after Jobs's legal efforts prevailed. Many historic fixtures were salvaged before its demolition.
