India Questions UN Rights Body on Pakistan's PoK Actions

Times of India · world

India has urged the UN human rights body to report on Pakistan's actions regarding concerns in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Anuj Swarup, First Secretary at India's Permanent Mission, questioned when a report would be issued on investigations into killings and internet restrictions. He stated Pakistan should reflect on its own rights record, including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rawalakot. Swarup criticized the OHCHR's "extreme selectivity" in addressing incidents, citing double standards that erode trust in multilateralism. India affirmed its commitment to non-violence and equality, ensuring citizens' rights are balanced with public order.
