Keralam Faces Power Crisis Amidst Shortfall

Keralam is grappling with an unprecedented power crisis, even during the monsoon season. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has imposed power curbs due to a shortfall in availability and soaring evening consumption. The state relies heavily on electricity imports, meeting only 30% of its demand internally. Despite significant rooftop solar capacity, the lack of grid-scale storage means KSEB must purchase expensive electricity during peak demand hours.

केरल में मॉनसून के दौरान भी बिजली का भारी संकट चल रहा है। KSEB ने बिजली की कमी और शाम को बढ़ती खपत के चलते कटौती शुरू कर दी है। राज्य अपनी 70% बिजली बाहर से मंगाता है, सिर्फ 30% खुद पैदा कर पाता है। रूफटॉप सोलर होने के बावजूद, ग्रिड स्टोरेज न होने से KSEB को पीक आवर्स में महंगी बिजली खरीदनी पड़ती है।
