The West Singhbhum administration has initiated a verification process to convert 14 forest villages in Saranda and Kolhan into revenue villages. Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar has directed officials to conduct detailed surveys, verify land records, and examine the statutory requirements for this conversion. This exercise aligns with the Union tribal affairs ministry guidelines and the Forest Rights Act, 2006. The conversion is expected to grant residents better access to government schemes, civic records, and administrative services through the regular revenue framework. The report is due by the end of November.
