A cargo vessel, MSV Jesus Heart, carrying approximately 160 tonnes of construction materials and other goods, sank approximately 18 nautical miles off the Beypore coast late on Tuesday night. The vessel was en route from Beypore to Kavaratti in Lakshadweep when the accident occurred. The Indian Coast Guard launched a swift rescue operation upon receiving an alert. A tugboat was utilized to safely rescue all eight crew members on board, bringing them ashore by Wednesday morning. Officials praised the Coast Guard's timely intervention, which averted a potential major tragedy.
