A massive 294.1-ounce gold and quartz nugget, discovered in Alaska in 1998, has been sold for $750,000. Miner Barry Clay found the specimen, weighing over 20 pounds, while pushing dirt with a bulldozer near Swift Creek. It was officially recorded as the largest gold nugget mined in Alaska. The specimen, named the Alaska Centennial Nugget, was later offered for sale by Heritage Auctions in 2021, fetching a significant price.
