MPPCB Probes Kymore Asbestos Landfill After Decade

The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) has launched an investigation into the asbestos waste landfill at Kalhara village near Kymore. This probe follows a 2016 Canadian consultancy report that documented extensive contamination affecting thousands of residents. Around 700 local residents are preparing compensation claims, prompting the MPPCB to assess the current condition of the landfill. Authorities aim to determine if contamination persists and if the decade-old findings require updated sampling and remediation.
