Ladakh Declared India's First Fully Organic Union Territory

Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has declared Ladakh as India's first 100 per cent organic Union Territory. This declaration follows the administration's earlier ban on the sale, distribution, and use of chemical and synthetic fertilisers for agricultural practices. The move is seen as a commitment to protecting the fragile Himalayan ecosystem and preserving traditional farming methods. It is also expected to create new opportunities for local farmers by improving the value of organic produce and enhancing market access.

उपराज्यपाल वी के सक्सेना ने लद्दाख को भारत का पहला 100 प्रतिशत जैविक केंद्र शासित प्रदेश घोषित किया है। यह घोषणा प्रशासन द्वारा कृषि पद्धतियों के लिए रासायनिक और सिंथेटिक उर्वरकों की बिक्री, वितरण और उपयोग पर पहले लगाए गए प्रतिबंध के बाद हुई है। इस कदम को नाजुक हिमालयी पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र की रक्षा और पारंपरिक खेती के तरीकों को बनाए रखने की प्रतिबद्धता के रूप में देखा जा रहा है। इससे जैविक उपज के मूल्य में सुधार और बाजार पहुंच बढ़ाने से स्थानीय किसानों के लिए नए अवसर पैदा होने की भी उम्मीद है।
