Marathwada Fodder Crisis Looms As Beed, Jalna Face Shortages

Times of India · environment

Farmers in drought-hit Marathwada are bracing for a fodder crisis following the failure of the kharif crop. Districts like Beed and Jalna have only about two months of stock left, significantly lower than the state average. Animal husbandry experts warn that insufficient and poor-quality fodder can severely impact livestock health, leading to reduced immunity, milk production, and reproductive issues. The state's animal husbandry department has identified 265 talukas with worrisome fodder stocks, though overall state availability remains adequate due to other regions.
