Tasmac Bar Licences Delayed Again, Existing Ones Expire This Month

The wait for compliant Tasmac-attached bars in Tamil Nadu is set to extend as the liquor corporation has not yet floated tenders for new bar licences. The licences for existing bars, which are often run in violation of rules and overcharge customers, expire at the end of this month. Despite promises of a makeover and relocation away from shops, the tender process has been stalled. The government has extended existing licences twice already, and the finalisation of new tender conditions has been pending government approval.
