India's Core Sector Growth Hits 7.9% in September, Fastest in New Series
Times of India · business
India's core sector experienced its fastest growth in September under the new series, reaching 7.9%. This significant expansion, compared to 3.1% a year ago, was primarily driven by strong performances in electricity, cement, and refinery products. The growth also benefited from a favourable base effect. Sequentially, the sector's output accelerated from a revised 5.9% in August. While natural gas, crude oil, and fertilisers saw contractions, likely due to geopolitical conflicts, refinery products and coal output accelerated. Electricity and steel also showed positive growth, indicating buoyancy in infrastructure spending.
