An Indian-origin couple has been sentenced to prison in the UK for defrauding millions of pounds by falsely claiming to supply PPE and nitrile gloves during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jogesh Bhandari received an eight-year sentence, while his wife Meenakshi received a two-year suspended sentence and community work. Their company was involved in a fraudulent deal worth $1.8 billion, with over $3.18 million paid for undelivered gloves to US hospitals. The couple used the illicit funds for luxury cars, renovations, and foreign holidays instead of essential medical supplies.
