Actor Robert De Niro partnered with chef Nobu Matsuhisa and producer Meir Teper to transform Matsuhisa's Beverly Hills restaurant into a global luxury lifestyle brand. De Niro discovered the chef's unique Japanese-South American fusion cuisine in the late 1980s and convinced him to open a New York location. The first Nobu restaurant opened in Tribeca, New York, in 1994. By 2013, the brand expanded into the hotel business, opening its first boutique hotel within Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
