US Executives Quit $25 Billion Alaska LNG Project Over Russian Control Allegations

Business Standard · business

Senior American executives have resigned from a $25 billion Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project due to alleged Russian financing and control. Former CEO Joel Riddle accused Russian energy company Novatek of funding the venture and influencing decisions before US approvals were secured. Riddle resigned in September, followed by several other key personnel, including the CFO and executive vice-president. Polar LNG denies the allegations, stating its development complies with US laws, and no US authority has confirmed a sanctions violation.
