NMC Bans AI-Generated Patient Testimonials and Clinical Outcomes in Medical Advertising
Hindustan Times · health
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued new ethical guidelines prohibiting doctors and hospitals from using artificial intelligence to create fabricated patient experiences or clinical outcomes for advertising medical services. Doctors are also barred from making unverifiable claims like 'best' or 'guaranteed cures' unless substantiated. Violations carry a graded system of disciplinary actions, starting with a warning and ethics training for a first offense. Subsequent violations can lead to censure, monetary penalties, and even suspension or removal from the medical register.
