CPI Seeks Release of Long-Term Prisoners

The CPI Andhra Pradesh secretary, G. Eswaraiah, has urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to review cases of individuals held in prolonged judicial custody for political and public movement charges. He requested steps for the release of eligible individuals, highlighting that many Dalits, Adivasis, and activists have been imprisoned for years. Eswaraiah pointed out difficulties in obtaining bail under stringent laws like the UAPA, especially for elderly, ill, women, and long-trial prisoners.

सी.पी.आई. आंध्र प्रदेश के सचिव जी. ईश्वरैया ने मुख्यमंत्री एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू से अपील की है कि वे राजनीतिक और जन आंदोलन के आरोपों में लंबे समय से जेल में बंद लोगों के मामलों की समीक्षा करें। उन्होंने कहा कि कई दलितों, आदिवासियों और कार्यकर्ताओं को सालों से जेल में रखा गया है। ईश्वरैया ने बताया कि यू.ए.पी.ए. जैसे कड़े कानूनों के तहत, खासकर बुजुर्गों, बीमारों, महिलाओं और लंबे समय से विचाराधीन कैदियों के लिए जमानत मिलना मुश्किल है।
