G-Sec Yields Hit 2.5-Year High Amid Crude Spike

Business Standard · stocks

Government bond yields surged to a two-and-a-half-year high on Monday, with the benchmark 10-year yield rising 6 basis points to 7.19 per cent. Elevated crude oil prices and a weaker rupee contributed to the pressure on the bond market. The 10-year bond yield is at its highest level since April 30, 2024, having risen significantly since the West Asia conflict began. The rupee also weakened, nearing 96 against the dollar, further impacting market sentiment.
