German authorities have arrested a Ukrainian national, identified as Vadym Y, in the state of Brandenburg on suspicion of spying for Russia. Prosecutors stated the suspect had been in contact with Russian secret services since at least July 2025, gathering military intelligence on defence installations and production. This arrest follows German accusations of Russian drone attacks and a recent increase in the threat level for Russian sabotage. German intelligence chief noted an escalating "shadow war" by Russia, raising concerns about Germany's potential involvement in a conflict.
