UP to Distribute Free Scooters to 30,000 Meritorious Girl Students Next Month

Uttar Pradesh will begin distributing free scooters to approximately 30,000 meritorious girl students from next month under the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana. This women empowerment initiative, a BJP promise from the 2022 elections, aims to benefit top female students in undergraduate courses. The scheme, approved by the UP Cabinet on July 21, will provide each beneficiary with a scooter costing around ₹67,000, including registration, insurance, helmet, and petrol. Initially planned for 50,000 students, the number was reduced to focus on the top 5% in each institution.

उत्तर प्रदेश अगले महीने से रानी लक्ष्मीबाई स्कूटी योजना के तहत लगभग 30,000 मेधावी छात्राओं को मुफ्त स्कूटी बांटना शुरू करेगा। यह महिला सशक्तिकरण पहल, जो 2022 के चुनावों का एक BJP वादा था, का उद्देश्य स्नातक पाठ्यक्रमों में शीर्ष महिला छात्रों को लाभ पहुंचाना है। UP कैबिनेट द्वारा 21 जुलाई को स्वीकृत इस योजना के तहत, प्रत्येक लाभार्थी को पंजीकरण, बीमा, हेलमेट और पेट्रोल सहित लगभग ₹67,000 की लागत वाली एक स्कूटी प्रदान की जाएगी। शुरू में 50,000 छात्रों के लिए योजना बनाई गई थी, लेकिन प्रत्येक संस्थान में शीर्ष 5% पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने के लिए संख्या कम कर दी गई थी।
