Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) reported 82 road accident admissions between and 21, with nine victims declared dead upon arrival. Two-wheeler riders, predominantly young men, constituted the majority of cases. While admissions were down 15% from last year, about 20% of patients remain in serious condition, many with severe head injuries requiring neurosurgery. The hospital also treated patients with internal injuries, highlighting the ongoing severity of road trauma during festive periods.
