CJI Surya Kant Urges Introspection on Judicial Process Responsiveness

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has called for introspection on improving the responsiveness of the judicial process. This comes amid a growing tendency for litigants to approach the Supreme Court for urgent listings of cases pending before High Courts. Justice Kant questioned if urgent matters can be identified more effectively, if listing procedures can be more transparent, and if technology can assist in prioritizing cases. He emphasized that timely justice should not depend on a litigant's ability to travel to the national capital.

भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्य कांत ने न्यायिक प्रक्रिया की जवाबदेही में सुधार पर आत्मनिरीक्षण का आह्वान किया है। यह तब आया है जब उच्च न्यायालयों में लंबित मामलों की तत्काल सूची के लिए वादी सुप्रीम कोर्ट का रुख कर रहे हैं। न्यायमूर्ति कांत ने सवाल उठाया कि क्या तत्काल मामलों की अधिक प्रभावी ढंग से पहचान की जा सकती है, क्या सूचीकरण प्रक्रियाओं को अधिक पारदर्शी बनाया जा सकता है, और क्या प्रौद्योगिकी मामलों को प्राथमिकता देने में सहायता कर सकती है। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि समय पर न्याय किसी वादी की राष्ट्रीय राजधानी की यात्रा करने की क्षमता पर निर्भर नहीं होना चाहिए।
