Kerala's Health Department is launching the 'Golden Goal' project to integrate government and private ambulances into a unified emergency response network. This initiative aims to ensure road accident victims receive timely treatment at appropriate hospitals, thereby improving survival rates. Initially piloted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts, the project will expand to include private and NGO-operated ambulances in its second phase. Advanced technology like GPS tracking and GIS mapping will facilitate rapid dispatch of the most suitable ambulance, with digital transmission of patient data to the receiving hospital.
