World Gymnastics has stated that Dutch authorities are solely responsible for denying visas to three Russian gymnasts, preventing them from competing in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam. Reigning world champion Angelina Melnikova, along with Viktoria Listunova and Anna Kalmykova, will miss the October 17-25 event due to rejected visa applications. The international governing body is in discussions with Dutch officials and the Russian Gymnastics Federation. The Russian federation condemned the decision as discriminatory and a violation of fair competition, accusing Dutch authorities of deliberately excluding top contenders.
