Madhya Pradesh Faces Power Shortage, Sources Additional Supply
Hindustan Times · india
Madhya Pradesh, despite being a power surplus state, is facing a significant shortfall due to a surge in demand and reduced generation. Power demand has risen by over 5,000 MW this year, with agriculture alone seeing a substantial increase. Deficient rainfall, coal shortages, and technical issues at thermal plants have compounded the problem. To ensure uninterrupted supply, especially in rural areas and ahead of the Rabi season, the state is sourcing an additional 500 MW from Uttar Pradesh and seeking power from Punjab.
