Karnataka May Cut Drug Agents From Supply Chain

Karnataka is considering a new hospital medicine procurement system to directly source drugs from manufacturers, bypassing intermediaries like stockists and C&F agents. This move aims to streamline distribution channels and fix accountability, following an investigation into a spurious drug racket. Health Minister UT Khader stated that reducing commissions could also lower drug costs. The state is examining similar models implemented in Uttar Pradesh. Further decisions will be made after a national drug administration officials' conclave in Bengaluru.

कर्नाटक में अब अस्पतालों के लिए दवाएं सीधे कंपनियों से खरीदी जाएंगी। बीच के स्टॉकलिस्ट और एजेंटों को हटा दिया जाएगा। यह कदम नकली दवाओं के मामले के बाद उठाया जा रहा है। स्वास्थ्य मंत्री यूटी खादर का कहना है कि इससे दवा वितरण आसान होगा और जवाबदेही तय होगी। साथ ही, कमीशन कम होने से दवाओं की कीमतें भी घट सकती हैं। राज्य उत्तर प्रदेश के मॉडल को भी देख रहा है। बेंगलुरु में अधिकारियों की बैठक के बाद अंतिम फैसला होगा।
