A powerful magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Panama on Friday morning, shaking buildings in the capital city of Panama City and causing people to evacuate into the streets. The earthquake's epicenter was located near Pitaloza Arriba, with tremors felt widely. Following the quake, the US Tsunami Warning System issued an alert for hazardous tsunami waves along the coasts of several Central and South American countries, including Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Peru. Aftershocks continued to shake the streets after the initial tremor.
