Kolkata Durga Puja Stampede: 12 Detained, SIT Formed For Probe

A stampede at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata resulted in 19 deaths and 25 injuries. In response, police have detained 14 individuals, including puja organizers. SIT, to be headed by a sitting High Court judge, has been formed to investigate the incident. The SIT will include members from STF, CID, and other departments. Kolkata Police have also imposed restrictions on public gatherings in the vicinity of the pandal. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible for crowd management failures.
